Once again this past weekend, the forecast threatened rain for our wedding festivities. As we planned, I reflected back on a wonderful “rain plan” wedding this spring for Sarah & David. They took advantage of Cinco de Mayo falling on the day before their wedding to begin their festivities at the Rand-Bryan House. After their wedding party rehearsed, everyone enjoyed appropriate food and beverages for their rehearsal dinner to celebrate the occasion (check out the colorful pictures of this fun evening). With rain in the forecast, the decision was made to plan on an indoor wedding and reception and the wedding party and family did part of their set up that evening so there would be less to do on the wedding day. The arbor, made by the groom for their ceremony, was just as pretty at the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Rand-Bryan House sunroom as it would have been on the lawn. The wedding day brought showers off and on with enough dry times to get wedding party pictures done on the grounds. Though it was pouring rain as guests arrived, a bright ray of sunshine managed to shine through the window on the bride & groom as they were saying their vows! The transition to the indoor reception went smoothly as tables were set and decorated in the colorful rustic decor that the bride had crafted while guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the porch. A BBQ buffet was a hit with the guests, followed by an evening of dancing and celebrating. Cheers to Mr. & Mrs. White as they begin their married life!
Those early spring days seem long ago as we flirt with 100 degree June temps but we are enjoying looking back as we catch up on blogging our spring weddings. It was a dreary first day of spring but Jo Ann & her friends and family had planned a day that would be warm, colorful & full of love! Bright coral decorations splashed against a white and silver background “popped” on this cloudy March day and the wedding party carried out the color scheme with coral against black & white. It was definitely a day filled with love as all gathered to support Todd & Jo Ann as they blended their families. We wish them many days of married bliss!
Weddings are a truly magical day to celebrate, no matter what time of year it is. So when Megan and Paul decided to seal the deal on January 18, 2016, Photography by TSM captured a beautiful winter wedding photo shoot at our Raleigh wedding venue, and even got featured in Southern Bride and Groom Magazine.
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon in September, Kristin and Steve made their promises to love each other until death do they part. After a traditional Catholic ceremony, the wedding party and guests continued the celebration with a reception at The Rand-Bryan House. The reception was filled with love, laughter, and dancing. Check out the video below of Kristin and Steve’s big day.
Most couples are hoping for an outdoor ceremony, especially in the spring and fall. With NC weather, the temperatures are usually comfortable for a ceremony March-November with the occasional bonus warm winter day like we had in December 2015. However, there’s always a chance of showers so a rain plan is a necessity. With a guest count under 100, you have a beautiful back-up plan with our sunroom, a bright spot even on a dreary day! Lots of times you can still get some dry time for photography on our lovely grounds. These pictures from Spencer & Alex’s November wedding show what a great job they did in going to “plan B” when it rained on their special day.
This couple embraced the beauty of the season for their Christmas wedding. The spring-like afternoon made for a pretty ceremony in the Rand-Bryan House sunroom. Then, the evening reception was “merry & bright” with candlelight, a Christmas tree, window candles and windows framed in icicle lights. Best wishes to Sam & Mike!
It’s merry and bright in December at the Rand-Bryan House as we enjoy the holidays with lots of Christmas parties. Whether you are planning a corporate holiday event or gathering family or a group of friends to celebrate the season, you’ll enjoy the spirit of Christmas at our historic venue. With the house all decorated for Christmas, you won’t have to do much to make it festive. Plan a weekday luncheon, a dinner or hors d’oeuvres with music/dancing….whatever suits your budget and is appealing to your guests. We are happy to suggest caterers and other vendors if needed. Here’s a message from one of our clients:
“We’ve had our company Christmas luncheon at the Rand-Bryan House for 3 years in a row. It’s easy to get to from downtown Raleigh and our employees have commented that it reminds them of “Christmas at Grandma’s.” Martha is a pleasure to work with and she was very helpful and gave us great recommendations for a caterer. We’ll continue to have our Christmas luncheon at the Rand-Bryan house!”
This bride wanted a wedding that highlighted the beauty of fall and, wow, did she get it! As she, her mom and planner visited in the months leading up to the November 22 wedding day, it was exciting to see the dream become reality. This was a delightful way to end our fall wedding season with a wonderful couple, great parents of the bride and a super team of vendors. Kudos to Lynn at Happily Ever After, Catering By Design, Ryan Midgett Photography and all the others!
Meri & Nick planned an indoor wedding but decided to take advantage of a beautiful fall day in mid-November to have their ceremony and cocktail hour on the grounds at the Rand-Bryan House. What a great day—Our best wishes to this delightful couple!
Most of our events are “happily ever after begins here” kinds of days but on several occasions we have hosted special anniversary parties to celebrate many years of happiness. The beauty and comfort of the house is perfect for any style event—a casual meal, a formal dinner, a reception with dancing or a “drop in” for light refreshments. The grounds offer lots of space for guests to stroll around and all those grandkids to run and play. It was our pleasure recently to host Fred & Diane as they celebrated their 50th anniversary with friends and family from across the country.
